If you are deficient in iodine, it can cause thyroid problems.Make sure you are getting iodine. Seaweed is a good source.

I ordered some from Puritans Pride vitamin company because they offer buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 3 free, etc. I went for the buy 1 get 1. I finally decided to try coconut oil after hearing so much about it. I am especially interested in using it for a moisturizer as many use it for that purpose along with cooking with it. I just hope it tastes good too.

I dont use it for cooking. I melt it and down it quickly over the top of my smoothie (else its like vasoline or wax) I wanted to make sure I get the right amount suggested for daily intake. It really does take away sweet cravings for me.

Fat & Lazy Disease
As I'm sitting here eating my HUGE bowl of raw broccoli & almond slivers, I come across this thread.
I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism at 16 & I now call it my 'fat & lazy' disease.
I cannot seem to afford the doc., bloodwork & meds, so I'm not on any.
Apparently I need to take a look at my diet. I thought I was a very healthy eater & did so, because of being Hypo.
Now darn.
Thanks for this thread, I've learned I need to do some more research. Blahhh.....

I got some coconut oil at Whole Foods last week and have been using it. It's wonderful. I love the fragrance, and it gives a clean, light, delicate taste to the food cooked with it. Sometimes I use it with a bit of olive oil in the pan. I also tried it on my face and I can't believe how smooth my skin feels the next morning! Yes, it's expensive compared to the commercial cooking oils, even to olive oil, but you use so little of it that it will last a long time. Not to mention the health benefits over other oils.
Thanks all for telling us about this oil.

Glad you like it, another suggestion : Bring about 2 Tablespoons with you in a hot bath and rub is all over your skin before bed. My skin has never looked better, you can also take make up off with it, but your right, its expensive to use lavishly, but once or twice a week in the tub is wonderful for dry winter skin. PS, I have stir fried shrimp in it this week end-yum !!.

Hypothyrodiam
I was reading yesterday what causes HYPERTHRODISM and you can you people who have this serious problem say thank you to POTASSIUM-IODIDE, there is now an EPIDEMIC of HYPERTHYROIDISM because of that additive they put in refined Table salt this type of salt should not be consumed at all. Do a search on this subject if you dont believe what I read. I have been typing out the TRUTHS on different subjects from the experts what I have read years ago and recently. And people on this forum are so ignorant about the truth of anything i type out.
