The last few times I have gotten my period, on the last day I've gotten these spells. It comes quick and I get dizzy, shaky, very pale, naseous ( I do not know how to spell lol) and I get very strong cramps. ( only time I get cramps are the first and last day, the first day they are very light).

The school nurse has said that its possible I suffer from low blood sugar, my mom used to have blood sugar issues but its been fine the last few years.

So I guess my question is if this is normal or.if I should go and get it checked out. I'm usually fine after about am hour, but it happens almost every month without a doubt. Since it usually is a short period of.time I've never been to concerned, but today ir happened while I was at work ( at a daycare) and I had to step back for a while. I dont want to make a.mountain out of a molehill ya know?

Menstrual cramps are related to production of a chemical called prostaglandin from the uterine lining.

Prostaglandin also causes nausea and the other symptoms you describe.

Advil, Aleve, and similar products help block the effects of prostaglandin. Try taking one of those (generics are fine) when your period starts and just continue it on a regular basis until the flow stops. This will sometimes even shorten the duration of flow.

Also be sure that you are drinking enough water. You might be getting a little dehydrated.

Did the symptoms just start, came on gradually, or you've had them the length of your menses?

It looks like you are about 18 years old or so.

If you have never seen a gynecologist, now would be a good time to consider doing so. You can have an exam to make sure there are no issues that might contribute to the pain and it will give you the opportunity to discuss your general health and things like contraception (whether you currently need it or not.)

One of my dd's has the same issue....her gyno put her on BC pills and it helped her a lot. It was a long road...she tried I think 3 different scripts before finding one that worked without side effects. (about 12 mths from start to finish)

so..make an appt with your gyno...and find out what options you have.

Sounds like you suffer from anemia or hypoglycemia. Go see a gynecologist and ask to have your blood tested for iron deficiency. If your iron levels are normal, then your symptoms may be due to dehydration or low blood sugar. If you suffer from hypoglycemia during menstruation, you can buy Glucose tablets which are sugar in a chewable tablet form. Eat 3-4 of those when you have the symptoms and that brings your blood sugar up for about 20 minutes, which gives you time to eat something with protein. Protein makes your blood sugar stable for a longer period than sugar. Protein can be peanut butter or anything that has more than 7 grams of protein. Or drink a glass of orange juice, milk, or fruit juice (not soda pop) to raise your blood sugar. Or cheese works too.

But go see your gynecologist and let him/her know you have these symptoms. They will know what tests to give you and what to diagnose you.
