I am awaiting to see a new Primary Care Dr. because I recently moved to a new city. My knee scope was done badly in New Orleans a year ago and I need it redone. The problem now is I am in Pain 24/7 that is so bad I can barely walk, sleep is hard due to the pain and sitting is painful too. I have tried all the OTC stuff. My new PCP will not prescribe pain meds eventhough he has my records from New Orleans from two Orthos and my MRI's. I have tried ice but nothing helps. Can anyone recommend any help.
I called Coventry insurance to complain and switched to a new PCP but that appointment is a month off and I am in pain now.

What have you been doing until now? You can try contacting your prior physicians if it hasn't been a long time. Many providers are reluctant to prescribe certain pain meds for legal as well as ethical reasons, especially for new patients.
Ask your current PCP for a referral to a specialist. Tell the specialist the pain is bad enough that it's waking you up at night.
I have chronic pain issues. I won't take pain meds that can be habit-forming. I use a heating pad on whatever's sore. I also take 800 mg ibuprofen twice a day. I take benadryl at night so I can sleep through the pain. Occasionally I have to take a muscle relaxer, because my leg muscles spasm and I can't straighten out my leg enough to stand on it.
I also have chronic knee pain. I put an ice pack on it when I come home. Frozen peas. I cannot straighten my leg, my knee makes constant "crunch" sounds when I move it. I had surgery last year, it improved and is injured again.
Ice and more ice. I take Alleve as well. And have limited my exercise. But if you can work thru the pain, yoga offers some relief.
