On Friday I am having my first colonoscopy (and an endoscopy). I find it very odd that my gastro doc allows ice cream and yogurt as part of the clear liquid diet to be consumed on the day before the procedure. This is quite contrary to everything I am reading online. Was anyone else allowed ice cream and yogurt? I also had no list of foods not to eat in the days leading up to the day before the procedure

I am using Split-dose MoviPrep with two Dulcolax pills 4 hours before the first dose.

I've had many colonoscopies and havent been limited in what I eat in the days prior. I've limited myself, however, because I know it's much easier that way.

If you're questioning the issue, just dont eat any ice cream or yogurt.

I was allowed to eat anything during the day before my colonoscopy, but had to stop 12 hours prior.

I found a study that indicates a clear liquid diet is not a must...regular liquid, including dairy is not a problem.

ACG: Clear Liquids Before Colonoscopy Not a Must

I had mine done last week. I was allowed breakfast the day before, then only jellow, not red or purple or clear broth the rest of the day.

My husband did his 2 years ago and the prep was easy, all he had to do was drink that stuff they give you in the gallon jug mixed with crystal light. He did not need ducolax or anything else. He was not allowed to eat anything after midnight the night before. I guess every docotr and pre p is different. He drank the stuff and within 15 minutes was all cleaned out. The reason he got a colonoscopy is because he had 2 diverticulitis attacks. Results came back normal. I hope all went well with you maggie.
