God, this one really hurts. I don't think I know where the glutes are, but I think it is int he area. It has been hurting for a week now and especially in the morning. It is on the back side of my left leg just below you know where. I thought it might berelated to a muscle cramp but I am not so sure. I do some low intensity cardio. I am using the muscle rub cream. I haven't seen a Dr yet. But my hubby has a drs appt today and I am thinking of asking him when I get a chance. It really hurts when I get in and out of the driver's seat and a chair. Walking not so bad. Does anybody have any ideas what I am suffering from?

Your glutes are the muscles in your butt cheeks. The muscles on the back of your thighs are usually called your hamstrings. You can strain them from running or dancing.

You could try taking ibuprofen and using a heating pad (not while you've got the muscle rub cream on, sometimes those creams and heat do bad things together).

I strained my hamstring last november playing basketball. Just now back on the court. RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate.

There's not much else you can do.

I knew someone who got charley horses really bad. She said a glass of tonic water before bed every night will help a lot.
