My daughter has been having some strange and severe symptoms for the past several months. They are:
-Dumping syndrome - vomiting, diarrhea, facial flushing, and feeling drugged and dizzy right after eating
-Sharp pain in upper right quadrant
-Sand-like stools and neon yellow watery stools
-Fatigue
-Hair loss
-Heart palpitations
She throws up most of the time after she eats, even if it's just a couple of crackers or a cup soup.
She has been tested for carcinoid syndrome, adrenal tumors, thyroid disease, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, ultrasound of liver, kidney function, blood work of every type. Everything has been normal. She does not have a gall bladder or an appendix, and has had a total hysterectomy.
In a few hours she is going to have an upper GI endoscopy and a colonoscopy at the same time. We are scared that, yet again, they will not find anything and she will continue to suffer. The doctors keep saying "we will find out what's wrong", but then give up and send her to another specialist. We have done research, asked questions, tried to find anything that will help the doctors diagnose what is wrong with her, and we are getting nowhere.
Has anyone had or know anyone that has gone through anything similar? Anything would help at this point. We are very worried and it's so hard to watch her suffer with this and not get any answers or relief.
I don't know how old she is, but since she's had a hysterectomy I'd have to assume she's at least old enough to menstruate. Might want to have her checked for a few things:
1. Celiac
2. Tools or any foreign object left in the surgery site where she had the hysterectomy, appendix, and gall bladder removed.
3. Accute pancreatitis
4. Gall stones (which is possible even after the gall bladder is removed, because you could've had stones in transit at the time, and now they're on the move again).
I can't give you too much help cause I have no clue, but I can give you sympathy. My husband is going through the same thing. No, not the same symptoms but the frustration about what is wrong with him. This past week he has had so many tests, cat scans, ultra sounds, etc. he doesn't think he has any more blood to give or can have one more test. Today he will see his oncologist to see if by any chance the cancer has returned, next week he sees the podiatrist about his heel and God knows who else he will be seeing. AT least his teeth don't hurt and he can still see. All they have come up with so far, is they know what it isn't. I guess that is a good sign...
Have they checked for poisoning? That's what is standing out to me with those symptoms.
That's the first thing I thought also. She may be ingesting something - something may have been contaminated by a chemical that is getting into her system...or worse- she maybe ingesting something secretly - perhaps a fetish with something...or the very worst scenario...there may be an intentional administration of some noxious substance. Keep an eye on her 24 7 for the next week and see anything she may eat - drink or breathe in.
Yes I can't offer much but sympathy either but I'll say this: don't stop looking for answers. Try to find a doc that likes a good challenge b/c I've heard of folks going to years before they get a dx and then they get the one doc who won't give up.
Only if you think the mother is somehow creating all of these symptoms in her daughter.
How old is she?
