Not like completely, but like stick it back and swallow. Could it get stuck in your throat? I feel like I've read that when you swallow its impossible for something to go back up during the swallowing proccess.
I believe the way that one got started is that when someone is unconscious and you lay them full on their back w/o adjusting their head, their tongue may fall back and block their airway. Actually swallowing? Probably not.
MynameisnotPeter, if you dont mind my being frank, I think some people have too much time on their hands thinking about whether they can swallow their tongue. Obsessing on such things helps no one.

I agree. We discussed in a CPR recert class at work. A RN in our class stated that the muscle structure in the tongue won't allow it to happen.
Well, if you suffer epilepsy, when your body starts to shake really bad ,so does your tongue. That explains why, people place an object in the persons mouth to prevent them from choking on their own tongue during a seizure
