My period is already 9 days late and I'm definitely not pregnant because I never had sex. I'm 28 years old and my period has always come on time. I have a period tracker app on my phone and my period usually comes between 28-35 days. Can stress be the cause for my period being late?

Yes. Stress can cause a delay in your menstrual cycle. So can an abrupt change in diet, and so can illnesses. They don't usually cause a delay, but yes, it's possible.

When was the last time you got a pap smear?

You said your period can range from anywhere from 28-35 days, that is a span of a week. Since there is some fluxuation there I wouldn't worry about it yet. Yes, stress can make a differnce. If another week goes by with no period you should probably seek medical help to see what is going on.

Agreed. The problem could be a cyst which goes away spontaneously, or hormonal irregularity.

I'm pretty depressed that I didn't get my period yet. I'm scared this is a sign that I won't be able to have kids.

You say you're 28 years old - you really should have been going for regular gynecological exams since you hit puberty. You still haven't answered the question - when was the last time you got a pap smear?

I'm not sure why the attitude. You claim to be needing help. I'm telling you where you can find it. If you don't want opinions given to you on an internet forum, don't seek them out.

I'm not the only one here who suggested that you get medical help.
