My wife got exposed and is having skin reactions.
She is using Calamine Lotion but it seems to reduce
redness and itching for awhile then it starts to come back again.

I've heard that it can get into your bloodstream and cause other
severe or dangerous problems. Also heard that since it is an
oily secretion it can get on your clothes, pets, carpet etc. and
keep on causing problems.

So my questions are:

1.) What is a good treatment if you get it ?

2.) How do you get it off clothes, pets etc. ?

3.) How the hell do you destroy the plants around
your house or property ?

All input would be greatly appreciated.

Wash the clothes with ordinary laundry detergent, and then apply any number of remedies found at a drugstore - pharmacist will help choose. Then to rid the property of plants, Moderator cut: racistgo around pulling them up. Don't burn the weeds, I think i've read that it can damage the lungs.

There are any number of herbicides that kill these plants - Round-up for poison ivy is one. DO NOT burn - the smoke carries the resin and will damage your lungs. If the reaction is severe and/or near her eyes, she may need oral steroids. Hot-as-she-can-stand-it water OVER THE AREA works but not on the face and BE VERY CAREFUL not to scald. Aveeno anti-itch is also excellent. Launder clothing twice in hot soapy water. Good luck. (I am itching in sympathy!)
