DH got a hernia from being constipated! New med did it to him and now he has to have laparoscopic surgery in january. It is outpatient surgery. Doc also found one on the other side during his exam.
I got one after hysterectomy. Doc said "Don't lift anything". Well I decided to do tug of war with kudzu never realizing it would cause problems and it popped back out agian. That was 5 years ago. I decided not to do anything as I had a hell of a time with MIRSA infection with both hysterectomy and hernia repair. I've been warned about strangulation but nothing so far. No pain but it does poke out. DH has some pain from his.
I have two and never did anything about it. If it doesn't hurt you don't fix it. My rule is: don't awake a sleeping tiger. You could end up a lot worse.
