Turns out, that star was on to something. While we can all relate to the aforementioned pain and suffering, most of us have no idea about the health ramifications of shapewear. I don't know, I see his point, but my mother's generation wore girdles on a regular basis and I don't remember any epidemic of bowel or digestive illnesses. Girdles were 10x more tight and uncomfortable than Spanx, IMO. I wore them for a Christmas party and didn't find them uncomfortable at all. Maybe some women are getting them TOO small.
