My husband has a consult with his surgeon tomorrow. He has mold taking up 5% of his right lung that needs to be removed. Just wondering what to expect with healing time, what recovery is like, etc. Any advice? It's one thing to hear from a doctor, but sometimes it's nice to hear from those that have been through it.

You can get mold in your lungs? How did that happen?

If you like to read medical papers, here is one....
Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery | Full text | Results of surgery for chronic pulmonary Aspergillosis, optimal antifungal therapy and proposed high risk factors for recurrence - a National Centre¿s experience

or Google Aspergillus and surgery for less technical articles

old-cold..thanks!

The doctors believe he got it from the composter in the yard. He must have had an infection or been born with an issue that weakened that section of his lung and allowed the mold to take hold.

Surgery is in 3-4 weeks in Boston.
