Hi,

I'm a 39 yr. old guy who has a history of hip problems. At age 13, I underwent surgical pinning of both hips due to an adolescent hip disorder (scfe) that generally occurs in the 10-16 year age bracket. And while I obtained good results post-surgery and was able to resume a very active lifestyle, my hips never felt normal. The condition I had left both femoral heads deformed ( the right hip severely; the left mild), which limited my mobility and created residual pain due to altered hip mechanics and postural issues. I learned to "put up with" these issues over the years in pursuit of a highly active lifestyle that involved cycling, running, weight-training, hiking, etc. And most people were unaware that I even had hip problems unless I told them.
But in private, these physical issues tormented me, often making me feel inferior or weak relative to others. I developed a bit of an inferiority complex that no amount of training could fix. And the residual pain caused by my altered hip mechanics created lifelong leg, knee, and back pain that I learned to accept.
At age 39, I am still very functional, and I still look and move pretty normal. But my right hip has significant arthritis, and I will need a hip replacement sometime during middle age, so it's only a matter of time before I'll need hip surgery. But until then, I plan on continuing to workout and be as physically active as possible.

I'm not sure what my intentions are with this post. I figured I'd share my story and see if there are any others who have or had similar issues ( specifically at younger ages) and who might like to share coping strategies.

I started experiencing this when I was 32 and I was introduced to GNC brand Triple Strength Fish Oil. I took 4 pills a day and after 7 days I started to notice the flexibility in my hips and joints. Fast forward 4 years later and now I only take the Fish Oil once or twice a week. I am so thankful I found this because I would struggle to get out of a chair and would have knee pain when I woke up in the morning.

So I highly recommend GNC Triple strength Fish Oil

I am sorry about your condition and pain. I can relate as I am 35 but have a chronic condition that causes pain and limits me.
When a person has a chronic condition it does have mental impacts. I remember my pain doctor saying to me you can't live in pain for so long and it not impact you mentally. Anyhow since you stated it creates a feeling of being inferior or weak have you thought of therapy? To me it sounds like you have pushed yourself to accomplish things even through the barriers and that shows strength. That being said it is about how you feel.
I also think support is important and it sounds like you are trying to hide your struggles but it may help you to talk to someone. Even saying how you feel can help. Do you have a family member or friend you feel you can talk to?
Are you sure your doing the proper activities for your condition? For example running puts a lot of strain on the body and something like swimming does not. I mean everyone is different but just a thought. I am not sure of what kind of doctors you are under the care of. You stated you are in pain so have you seen a pain doctor or even worked with alternative type of treatments with nutrition or acupuncture even?
