When I was in my teens and twenties, and even my thirties, I only needed five hours of sleep. Now that I'm in my fifties, I've moved on to six hours. I don't work outside the home so I can go to bed and get up whenever I want and believe me, my body absolutely rejects more than six hours of sleep a night. I've always been like that. Always been a night owl who also gets up early!

I usually go to bed around midnight, read for a bit and then get up about 6 am. And I always feel good. Always. I am very grateful that I've never had any sleep issues or chronic fatigue.

I average around 9 hours. I have always been one of those people who need more sleep. As a teen, I remember sleeping sometimes 12 hours and still feel like I needed more. Now, I normally can go to bed when I want and wake up when I want. We usually turn off the light around midnight-12:30 and I get out of bed about 9 a.m. Sometimes later if I had one of those nights that I wake up and can't fall back asleep. Hubby is usually out of bed before me.
