I have them, both dark individual ones and the ones that look like a cloud of gnats. Been checked out and eyes are OK (age 62). What really bugs me is when I DO have tiny fruit flies in my field of vision, I get them mixed up with the floaters!!
Yep, 'cause they look exactly the same at first glimpse.
I always chuckle at myself when I realize it's a floater and feel like a cat who just pounced on his tail.
I haven’t noticed them much lately but I don’t use my eyes the way I used to. I did a lot of work with microscopes over the years and looking through they eyepieces of those instruments could really try my patience. They were very clear and sharply defined. I would literally move my eyes around to try to get them out of my field of view. Extremely annoying. But now that I don’t do much of that any more, I hadn’t really thought about them until I read this.
Mine come and go. They are usually small and at first I think there is a tiny black bug flying around until I realize it is another floater. They can be annoying but my eye doctor told me they really are nothing to worry about.
Old thread but floaters affect many of us. Some types of floaters should be examined by a retinal specialist. I had the spider web type in one eye and was told it was a vitreal issue in the retina but not a true detachment and did not require treatment. I have the little black dots from time to time but the floaters that really interfere daily with my vision are the big pale gray "bubbles" --so annoying and nothing can be done about them. It's part of getting old...
Check your blood-pressure, it can cause floaters if high.
