When my eyes were dilated a few months ago and I left soon after, I'm sure I was at risk to be driving, but I did so. Was thankful not to have had a collision.

Many offices will say you need a driver. My eyes were still dilated 6 hours later. Though I could see decently at a distance I couldn't see close up to read until at least 3 hours later (which wouldn't affect driving probably). More of an issue may be brightness though they may have some special sunglasses (of cardboard) they can give you. If you have to drive into the sun on your drive home, don't do it!

I have a friend who says it never went away.

He checked out the BABE that was dilating his eyes and was never the same. He married her. Says his eye still bug out when he looks at her.

I haven't had this done since I got off my parents insurance and started going to a chain optometrist. I am under the impression only ophthalmologists to that test.

Awwww. What a sweet story. That's one of the reasons why it's so important to see your eye doctor regularly

Actually, optometrists are qualified to dilate your eyes also. It's really important to have the dilation performed, even if you have no symptoms, because eye doctors can catch diseases like glaucoma, diabetes, and high blood pressure via dilation, and sometimes find it before your family doctor does.

Are you generally more light sensitive? I have always been that way.

The blurry vision some experience is due to lack of depth of field, much like a camera lens.
I've been quite clumsy for the past couple of years because of the lack of depth of field, the Meniere's disease and whatever the heck else it is. I have a really nice scar above my right eye as a souvenir.

I'm still thinking about taking a cab. They'll soak me, but on the other hand, it'd be cheaper than crashing the car.

My eyes are blurry for several hours after. My eye doctor requires you to have a driver, if you don't they will not dilate.

I should add that I have had eye surgery, so that may be a factor.
