I was rear-ended earlier this week and diagnosed with whiplash. Since then, my back and neck have been alternately sore and stiff, but today I also noticed that my left foot/leg have a very mild "pins and needles" numb feeling. Is this a serious symptom or a side effect of whiplash? Anyone else have experience with something like this?
I have 3 herniated discs in my neck (no accident, just cumulative years of lifting weights, degeneration, etc) and my only symptoms were my left arm tingling. You need an ENG to pinpoint where the nerve is being affected. My symptoms were managed with exercises/PT. It could be serious, but could also just be temporary inflammation impinging on the nerve, and when the internal swelling subsides the tingling will, too. Only way to find out is MRI and ENG.

I plan on seeing a doctor whom I trust in a couple weeks when I come home for the holidays. Would waiting that long be detrimental?
I've had similar issues resolved by a chiropractor, it's most likely a pinched nerve (wit-nit) has stated. Regular doctors can't fix the problem without surgery, it's imperative to get this taken care of ASAP, research the best chiropractors in your area and go there, otherwise it might be something that stays like that for the rest of your life.

Many of my clients have had something similar happen to them. In my experience, the "pins and needles" will resolve itself in a few weeks. In the event it doesn't, you'll want to speak to your doctor. There is a possibility of an injury to a disc in your lower back, between your lumbar vertebra.
If I were you, I'd probably at least speak to an attorney. This could be a serious situation.

Do you know if whiplash massage is helpful?
