Mouth ulcer on gums (sore, tooth, salt, bump)

For the past few months, I have been getting this bump on my gums in the same area, and it flares up when I eat certain foods. My friend said it's called an ulcer. I looked it up and it appears it just happens to certain people and not much can be done.

Does anyone else get this?

Yes, I've gotten them on and off for over 20 years now. I think mine are stressed induced. They will usually last for about a week and then go away. Always on my upper gum line (either side).

I try to avoid irritating the area with the toothbrush, acidic foods etc, but beyond that, I just endure the discomfort for a while.

Rinse with warm salt water....not too much salt, but some! It's soothing to mouth tissues!

Warm salt water is like a temporary panacea for all sorts of mouth discomfort, isn't it?

My Mom always had me gargle with it when i had a sore throat, now my 7 year old asks for the same thing....
