My mother is 74yo and was a lifetime smoker until 3 years ago when she was diagnosed with Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Chemotherapy has minimized the cancer's growth. She also has COPD/emphysema and recently was placed on oxygen supplementation (2 liters) to bring her saturation up from the low 80s to the mid90s. At present, this is the only intervention she has required. She has a pulmonary function test scheduled later this month to give us a baseline understanding of the state of her disease.
I am hoping those who also suffer from COPD can chime in here with some information on the progression of the disease, where they are with it, what their daily living is like, etc. I have questions, too, about how the humid climate of Florida affects symptoms, whether her environment needs to be super, super-clean and dust-free, etc.
