It has been there about 6 months or more, but seemed to have gotten bigger recently, it is soft, painless, doesn't change color. I hadn't worried about it before but will probably get it looked at soon. Here is a picture

I just had an MRI of a lump on my neck, even though I was sure it was a lipoma -- and it was. However, your lump doesnt look anything like mine, nor does it look like any of the neck lipomas I found when I googled them. Yours looks more like a cyst -- it will continue to get larger if you dont have it removed. I'd go to a doctor and get an MRI and then get it removed. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. how does a cyst look different from a lipoma? is this worse than a lipoma ? I plan on seeing a dermatologist soon.

You should google photos of the two. You can also google the differences between them.

Is it soft and squishy? Lipomas are fat.......not usually harmful....get it checked, to be sure!

The slip sign test will help determine if it's a cyst or a lipoma. If you press your finger against it, and it slips away, it's a lipoma. If it stays put, it's a cyst.
