When I suddenly started having a very itchy small area on the top of my hand at my knuckle, I was puzzled as to how it came about & I'm pretty sure I figured it out.

I visited some elderly people & there was a time we were all holding hands to pray. This older man's finger was on this (now itchy) part of my hand for a good several minutes & I'm pretty sure he has some athlete's foot fungus. Yes, I washed my hands right after & nothing happened for days, but then, the itchiness & kind of wierd, crepey skin texture popped up.

I've tried Neosporin & even this prescription cream I got from years ago to clear my skin, but now I've been soaking tea tree oil on it w/ a cotton ball for the last 2 hrs now, so I'll see how that works. I hope I don't have to go to the dr for this! I was also planning to get some OTC cream for athlete's foot to rub in. It doesn't really itch anymore like it did on day 1.

Any other suggestions please?

Athletes foot is a "fungus"...you can get it anywhere! Good luck! Try Selsun...it's an anti fungal...ask your pharmacist...it's not an RX, but it is behind the counter!

it is a fungus and you need an anti-fungal, clotrimazole cream or spray (Lotrimin), available without Rx.

HYDROCORTISONE/IODOQUINOL - TOPICAL (Alcortin A, Vytone) side effects, medical uses, and drug interactions.

Used that before with good results.

I could be wrong, but I think cortisones are not meant to treat fungal infections. And in fact, may exacerbate the symptoms.

So I'm putting the Lamasil cream on religiously since I got it yesterday & it's looking better already! At some point or two throughout the day, I like to let it air out in which there's no cream on it for a bit.

I'm really trying not to have to go to the doctor here, but I hope this isn't an issue I'll have to forever worry about, even once it serems healed.

Anyone know if it's OK to soak a little apple cider vinegar on it sometimes or will that make it worse? I know vinegar has many benefits & healing properties.

Yay, the Lamasil healed it up very well! I'm pleased! I'll put some more cream on for a few more just to really heal it up.

Whew! I hope I never go through that again!
