I'm sure you've met people, let's say one person was 65y/o and the other person was the same.
But you thought to yourself one of them was an "old 65".
For example---My mom is 66y/o and I also work with a lady that is 66y/o but the lady I work with is an "old 66". My mom is what I would call a young 66. My mom is a vibrant person with a young spirit and barely wrinkled. She has pretty skin and is very active.
The lady I work with reminds me of a great grandmother, very wrinkled and just "old acting", doesn't like to do much and just a bore to talk with.
Being afraid to grow old is part of what makes you seem old. If you need a cane to walk safely, but are too embarrassed to be seen with a cane, and that causes you to fall and hit your head on something hard, that can make you seem much older much faster.
Everyone gets old at the same rate. No one has any more time than you do. The question should be, "How do you run longer than the next guy?" Simple, better maintenance. You are no more than a biological machine, and the care you give that machine will determine how long it lasts, if you don't have abnormal breakage or problems. (sickness) As it is above, so it is below.

How do you avoid becoming "old" as you age?
You can't. We are all going to age and die. Sorry....
I just turned 49 two days ago. I went skateboarding at a local skate park that day.
I've been skateboarding since I was 12 years old.
I'm not immature, I just enjoy things I've always done.
I think staying in touch with your youth and the things you did that you enjoyed has a notable beneficial effect on your health, your outlook and how others perceive you.
