Looking for opinions on whether Relaxation/Meditative Yoga is something that people would want their employers to incorporate into their Employee Wellness Programs or at least make some type of discounted group packages available. A friend of mine owns a yoga studio, but due to increased competition in our area, she's looking for new ways to grow her business and looking at this as an option.

She does a great job tapping into the calming, spiritual side of yoga and has helped me to lower my stress level and blood pressure considerably. Just looking for opinions on whether or not people like these types of classes and would they want them offered at their worksite, possibly at lunchtime, or just at the studio after work. There are so many newer versions of yoga being taught these days, also wondering about the popularity of this more old school, meditative style of yoga.

I think that type of yoga definitely has appeal to people under stress--and so many jobs these days are stressful.

I've a friend, an RN and a yoga teacher, who now teaches yoga to hospital staff, especially nurses as well as to cancer and heart patients. You can find out more by Googling "Yoga Nurse" or Annette Tersigni, The Yoga Nurse, Author, Speaker, Trainer, Seminar Leader

I have no problem with anyone doing it...it's great! I would have a problem with employers giving time for it...it's not something that needs to be done in the middle of a workday!

Mindfulness training is the big thing now in professional settings, because employees can do it walking around, while on hold on the phone, eating lunch, etc. Many businesses don't have the space to do standard relaxation, and furthermore employers really don't like the idea (although they wouldn't admit it) of their employees "relaxing" at work in any form. I've been in a work relaxation training and a few people fell asleep and were snoring. Mindfulness does not inspire sleep.
