I go for a physical at work every year. Two years ago I weighed roughly 195 and blood pressure was 110/70-ish. Last year I weighed 165 and was 108/65. Over the last 5 years this has been pretty consistent in fact regardless of my higher weight. I'm 34.

This year I weigh 146 and pressure on the automatic machine was 131/71!! She took it afterward manually and got 122/70, so still quite elevated.

Freaking out I went to CVS afterward. I took six measurements in their machine after walking in.

125/70, 115/64, 94/66, 109/56, 97/68, and 103/70.

What are your thoughts? I'm going for a full physical at the end of the month to get blood work done. I can't for the life of me understand why it's higher now. I eat significantly better, almost no dairy, sugar, sodium etc. I do cardio/run 3x a week, for 30 mins. I go to the gym and lift weights on off days 3x a week as well. I have never exercised more or eaten better in my life. This is quite upsetting and worrisome.

All of those readings are in the normal range, so not to worry. High intake of salt can elevate BP

There are soooooo many reasons for this. The most obvious include any changes in medications? Before after eating? Diet? Pet/no pet? Children/no children. As mentioned by others, the BP readings are in the normal range, but they have found BP on the lower side is optimal. I know I get headaches (caused by almost anything) and can guess my reading within 10 points, for both numbers. Keep thinking about what's different and you may find it......or not. But do keep in touch with the doctor and follow their instructions.

It isn't necessarily higher now. It was higher at the moment in time your doc took your BP. Your BP could be 100/70 in the morning, 155/95 after an argument, 130/90 before a big presentation, 95/65 overnight as you sleep...
