With a risk always being there, why fly in the face of potential danger?

With regards to africa, HIV is transmitted through breaks milk as well and many HIV positive babies are a result of this. Additionally the medical care and screening process that exist here do not exist there. Only about 35% of HIV cases are sexually transmitted.

Sure...I can easily believe the odds are less than what we've been led to believe..but whether the odds are 1 in 25 or 1 in 5, I'm still going to be as safe as possible. You're just spinning the roulette wheel. Just because it takes you 50 times to catch something instead of 10 really won't make you feel any better in the end!

You're not just having sex one time..you're having sex multiple times with multiple people. Also, if you ever get in a serious relationship, you just MIGHT want the option to "unwrap" and if you get something that won't go away then it won't be fun!

The risk is exaggerated. Of course, if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones, that doesn't matter! The statistics lump everyone together, and usually do not break things down by group or partner type (except for HIV, which is mostly found in particular groups).

Many factors come into play, of course, and the most important is choosing your partner, and their history. Single people are at higher risk because of the nature of dating these days, and much more so if promiscuous. Swingers and polyamorous people may have many partners but much lower risks, even without condom use, because there's a different and more selective partner selection process, and usually more testing.

Catching a disease or catching a baby...I certainly wasn't taking any unnecessary chances.

The thing is, alarmingly enough for
the married people on here.......
Is the fact that so, so many
married people falsely believe
they're safe from STDs.
I know of a situation where the
couple was married for 25 years &
she acquired an std.
Found out her lovely husband
had an extensive history of
cheating & exposed her.

I cannot count how many married
men are actively trying to
get me to fool around with them......

So, for the married people on here
Never assume you're all good

Basically, if you're living foul, or dealing with someone who IS (or HAS at any point prior to you) the more likely you are to catch something. No one is immune to repercussions of their actions. *Plus, there is a whole subset of sexually transmitted bacterial infections out there you never even heard of... Act like you know

Don't really understand what you are asking.

It can take just one person for you to catch something.

It doesn't matter if you sleep with 100 people or 1. If you use a condom, you should be safe.

People use condoms for the same reason they get vaccines. You don't want to get the disease they can help prevent. Every person that got an STD wishes they didn't.

And even if infection is a long shot, do you want to take that risk?
