I know enough non-hookers, junkies, etc. that have had an STD that I would never take that risk.

A friend of mine got herpes from the first guy she ever slept with.

I agree that it's likely exaggerated, but I actually agree with all the goody two shoes on this forum on this one. My goal is to bed as many women as possible before I leave this earth, and thus far I'm achieving that, but I know the risks are high. I always make sure the girls have been tested and I use protection as often as I can.

I am thinking long and hard here but still have to ask - when can you not use protection? At a certain time during the day, at certain places or what does it depend on?

Well on some occasions it has happened spontaneously. We could be on a long drive and she may go down on me. Perhaps we are at the beach at night and things just happen, or even just last week I took one of my lovelies out and we didn't even make it home. It happened right there in the car in a parking lot.

I don't like to keep condoms in the car or in my pocket due to heat.

I don't believe it's easy to catch an STD every time you have sex.

I believe it's easy to catch an STD from a person who HAS an STD.

And since you can't always tell the difference, you have to be careful.

It's Russian roulette. Some people win. Others don't. But the ones that don't, make it riskier for those that do, if they keep circulating, which they usually do.

I just looked up the statistics for herpes, because in the past, people have posted that it's at 50% of the population, so you might as well give up on trying to avoid it, they say. Overall, it's at 26% of the population. According to an NPR science program, though, among single women between 40 and 50, it's at 50-60%.

I'm not sure how they can arrive at those statistics when experts also say that most people with herpes have never been diagnosed. But those are the current stats. And that's only 1 STD, OP, out of over a half-dozen.

Of course, I think every "single" person that is sexually active should use protection.

In the studies i have seen, age at first sex and number of sex partners are among the key determinants of STDs, once you hold the effect of race constant.
