Thank you so much. I changed that DM option. I would appreciate your info.
Not wanting to hijack this thread...I started one in Health and Wellness, in the Cancer sub forum, titled "recently prescribed statin....."
I will keep folks posted here on any further developments. Thank you so much!

Had years of muscle pain before I discovered it was Triclor. Cannot tolerate it nor statin dose level.
Cholesterol levels are fine. Triglycerides levels now at 1700. Blood sugar hovers about 120-160.
Low starch but high fruit diet.
Moving to higher fat and meat diet.

Don't forget to research the actual research that shows iodine toxicity and the increased risk of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer from too much iodine.

You would have done much better for your health with high starch, high vegetable, high whole grain, and keeping the fruit.
High fat + high meat = recipe for cancer and heart disease.

Since you are not going to take the statins (which only treat the symptoms and not the causes), why don't you lower your cholesterol the healthy way with a 90-95% whole food plant centered diet that cuts out all processed and refined foods? That way you would be treating the cause and actually heal yourself.

Have any labs been done? I would think the results would be a guide for you and the doctor on where to start.
Always ask for a copy of labs to be sent to you so you know what's going on.
I'm not even given antibiotics without lab work, same with my husband.
Edited: oops, caught up now
Yes on the diet. No one likes it, but diet and exercise should be the first "go to" for many medical conditions.

I will research that. Actually, my cholesterol levels are fine, the Dr. gave the statin to me along with my diabetes medications when I was newly diagnosed at the end of August, as a precaution.
I expressed my concerns, having seen something about statins, (not thoroughly read) and she laughed and said it was better not to read the side effects. Prophetic?
At this point I'm not sure if that is what has caused this...but I am wanting to wait until my reg Dr. sees me in a couple of weeks to discuss alternative tests and my options at least.
Thank you Jambo for the link. Quite a lot to think about.

You might also look into researching the benefits of this type of lifestyle/nutrition change on diabetes.

I agree. I have been careful with my diet. I also agree, some more/different labs should be done. I am hoping to have a through discussion with my Dr. next week about those. I am not opposed to doing these procedures, but I'd like to use other methods that are available.
I called and cancelled this Fri appointment, and asked the Tech if they could tell me what a CT scan costs....She said that the Dr's nurse is supposed to find that out for me. The Dr's nurse isn't the one that scheduled the CT. Lots for me to find out prior to doing this. And, still hoping it will not be necessary.
I really think I will feel better having more information and a long discussion with my reg Dr next week.
