I am trying to help out my G/f with this post.
She has such itchy skin. However, her skin isnt dry.
She uses dove soap, but doesnt typically use lotion.
Her symptoms are that her back and most of her body itches A LOT. In the relationships I have had, her level of itchy is much higher than other people.
I know this cause she reminds me of me before I switched soaps and found one that doesn make me so itchy.
Her skin isnt visibly irritated, or dry looking. But her skin, especially on her back itches so much.

Before trying an expensive dermetologist, does anyone here have any suggestions for reasonable cost over the counter soap or lotion that might help her ? Perhaps you have a similar personal experience or helped a s/o find a product or solution to alleviate itchy skin.

Oh, and my g/f absolutely drinks enough water daily, approximately 60-80 ozs a day. So we can rule out dyhydration. She doesnt use lotions or perfumes. She barely uses make up.
Her diet is extremely clean, and consumes very little preservatives or sodium or additives.

She currently uses Dove soap. She tried cural lotion for about 4-5 days (once a day), but it really didnt do much at all for her.
She showers daily, every day. She uses warm/hot water, but it isnt drying her skin its so hot.

Any suggestions ? Personal experience ?
Thanks in advance.

Any chemical free soap will probably work.
She needs no sulfates, dyes, etc.
One good one is the olive oil soap from Kiss my Face.
For other suggestions go to skindeep.org and find the bar soap category.
I would suggest she make the change in shampoo, make-up etc.
All of the chemicals in personal products are bad for you!
I have been all chemical free for 7 years and my skin/hair etc. is in much better shape.
Hope that helps!

I just remembered, she seems to be the most itchy where her bra strap goes across her back. Is it possible that laundry detergent or the bra material may be the issue ?

Aveeno is supposed to help. Yes, she could be allergic to something. Has she tried taking a benadryl to see if that helped?

I found dove soap is the best for our dry skin followed immediately with Lubriderm lotion head to toe. My dermatologist said to shower every other day.

I get extremely itchy skin on my legs during the winter. Try picking up a bottle of Gold Bond Ultimate Diabetics' Dry Skin Relief. It is not expensive and it is the best thing I have ever used - and I have tried many different products over the past 20 years.

I don't think she has used bendryl much. But she doesnt like to use meds or pills, and I have a feeling she would need benedryl daily.
We are looking for a more permanent topical solution such as a specific soap or lotion.

I will look into this product, along with the others that have been suggested.

For instance, for me, my skin was very itchy even though I didnt have dry skin. Thrns out when I switched to Mens Dove soap my skin stopped being so itchy. I'm not sure if the previous soap had something i was allergic to or just irritated my skin. I went from having an itchy back almost all the time to not thinking about it at all. It was one of the best product changes of my life.
