There is a fascinating new documentary on netflix called "prescription thugs". It's all about the massive profits doctors make pushing "legal" drugs.

Oh yes and there are many books written about this topic too. I have one on my coffee table that a friend lent me called Politics in Healing and one chapter is on DMSO - The Persecuted Drug....maybe I'll breeze thru that chapter...I use the bad no no DMSO solution daily. For joint support and for dental support with my other oils. My first book was The Medical Mafia I purchased in 1995.

The collective weight of peer reviewed research is very much against saturated fat, be it from dairy, eggs, bacon, or tropical oils.

By that metric, coconut oil is basically a heart attack by the teaspoon. While it may have specific uses (ie in cosmetics), consuming substantial quantities regularly is unwise given our current knowledge.

Searching pubmed.gov archives will offer empirically-based insights, rather than largely speculative, self-referential, and dubious claims by "doctors" with blogs driven more by "philosophy" than science.

No, the science is clear that saturated fat is perfectly fine, be it from dairy, eggs, bacon, or tropical oils.

I'm not sure why you say that. It's oil, not a cure-all.

Forgot to mention that I used to eat tofu as a protein source but am also afraid to eat that any more because I've read that soy is bad for thyroid.....and I may have hypo. And if I eat too many nuts I get nauseated. Does anyone have.any ideas on good protein sources that I may be missing?

Don't like to speak for others, but I think that "just a guy" wrote that because that is how coconut oil is being touted.....as a cure all.....at least that is how I perceive the hype also.

Are these studies or research done recently? I ask, because from what I have seen and read in the past year or so, this is not the case. We can debate this for ever and not agree. What is researched and thought is good or bad today, will be different next week or next year.

How are you with using protein powder for smoothies or other things? PlantFusion is very good, from vegetable sources only, no whey or soy.
