Seem it started 6-8 mo ago, I get up every 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs every night to pee and drink water. I seem normal during the day (meaning every 4-5 hrs).
Is this a normal getting old thing or what ??

I know many older folks and I'm one of them. I get up more during the night than I ever had in my life and I'm approaching 78. Some older ladies I know get up every couple hrs they say. I work on doing the kegel exercise and that helps the muscles to tighten. I drink a good amount of water all day and would like to drink more at night but......we need to keep hydrated.

Every 1.5 to 2 hours? That's a bit too much -- I'd check with an urologist. Could be prostate issues, among other things.

I don't know if OP is male or female, but a female friend who is up all night is now working on her third fitting for a pessary and collapsed bladder.

talk to your doctor, it could be prostate problems which are very common in men, even those not your age. Otherwise, I know a lot of people as they age seem to pee more at night. I am one of them: being a women I doubt I have prostate problems. I may not get up quite as often as you, but some nights I get up 3 or 4 times and yes, I always have a glass of water. I think many of us, when we relax at night we seem to have the urge to get up and pee more often.
Someone suggested getting checked for diabetes, I guess that is possible but if you don't have unusual thirst during the day I wouldn't worry too much about that. It wouldn't hurt though to check with your doctor if you haven't recently had a checkup.

If you're male, it could be prostate problems.
In either gender, it could be a UTI. Sometimes they don't have the more common symptoms of pain, just increased frequency. I get UTI's like that...the only way I know I have one is that I start waking up a couple times at night to go. Then I get tested for it and a couple days of antibiotics clears it up.
Before my diabetes was diagnosed, I would wake up often at night and usually be thirsty at the same time. I wasn't thirstier than usual in the daytime, but sometimes I was so sleepy I had to take naps, and I sweated more than usual.

Enlarged prostrate. As you age the prostrate enlarges and causes urge to go more often. See your doctor and he'll probably refer you to a urologist. Pills or surgery will reduce the prostrate, your doctor will be able to diagnose what you need.

My mother will be 81 tomorrow. She can go hours during the day without having to pee but at night she gets up at least twice. Every 90-120 minutes seems excessive. Go to the doctor.
