There is hope for all of you that suffer with COPD. My father got to a point where he could barely get off of the couch because his breathing was so bad. It was a 15 month process, but he received a double lung transplant a couple of weeks ago. He now requires no breathing assistance (oxygen, bi pap, etc)...and can get out on his own.

He has his life back and it was well worth it.

Yes... chronic obstructive pulmonary disease... its a step after emphsyma spell check! Alot of the older folks come into the office with it... I know my mom had it, then her next step was Small Cell Lung CA, unoperable, like a tumer would be..

If you smoke, please stop ...

My sister has it. SHe keeps quitting the butts, then going back to them. I hope she smartens up, because I don't want to bury my younger sister. We should go in order.

Smoking is a contributing factor for sure, but my father also had major exposure to asbestos, cotton dust (from working for years in a textile mill with no protection), and CFC refrigerants (also from his job).

mmm, yes there can be other contributing factors. My grandmother died from lung cancer and had never smoked nor been around second hand smoke. She did however do ceramics in a small area of her beloved shop. We feel the dust she was exposed to was a major factor.

This is great to hear that your father has been able to get over his breathing difficulty. Hope he continues to be healthy and happy.
