My 13 yr. old is having to be tested for this. Does anyone have experience with it? Is the underlying cause always a brain tumor? I'm so scared!

I did, and scared myself worse. I'm hoping it's a treatable source problem

I'm sorry to hear this. What kind of testing are they doing? I have a friend that had it very recently and yes, she did have a brain tumor removed this year and she is finally getting over it but it hasn't been easy.

She has an appointment with the opthalmologist Thursday, and they will look in the eye and determine if it is confined to the eye, or if an MRI and spinal tap are necessary.

I worry about recovery if it comes to doing surgery. A friend of a friends daughter had a brain tumor (also had childhood cancer at one time). She didn't wake up for a very long time (months). The first few days home, she got sick and passed away. She was 13. This is what scares me to death. I hope it's something minor and treatable.

I hope so too love roses! I had never heard of this before it happened to my friend but I am happy to report that she is finally on the road to recovery.

So, good and meh news. Doc said buried disk drusen, and confined to eye, not past the disk. The inflammation was minor, so he wasn't concerned about a tumor or too much brain fluid causing pressure. She will still have to be monitored to keep on top of any changes.

My friend had 4 times the normal amount of brain fluid at one point and the pressure from that was very debilitating. She's doing better now. I haven't heard anything about disk drusen being mentioned in her care. I am glad your daughter's results sound mostly good!
