Has anyone had to have a colonoscopy repeated because of stool blockage the first time? If so, what was the results and how was it handled?
I am about to go through this; one doctor wanted me to have a barium enema, but primary care doctor didn't think it was necessary and my new specialist certainly didn't think it was even a good idea. He is going to repeat the procedure but I have 2 days of prep ahead of time instead of just one.
Haven't had it happen before but I would be sure and eat easily digestible foods 2-3 days before your prep days. It will make the prep days much easier.

thanks, had a couple previously and did eat very light before even prep day or in this case 2 days. I will certainly take your advise. The primary care doc who I was seeing when I had the last procedure thought the problem had to do with not getting cleaned out: new PC doc and the specialist think the same. Even though I followed the in instructions to a tee.

The instructions are often very easy. Too easy, perhaps? I did the low fiber thing for 48 hours prior to the one day of fluids, then prep day which actually started the day before the procedure. Everything worked fine.

wow,,,, the prep should have cleared everything. It's hard to figure out "why" it didn't if used as directed. I know the past ten or twenty years now every time I have this done the doctor has changed the type of prep he wanted me to use. This past year it was much easier of a prep but I don't remember the name of it. However it worked well. lol

According to the doctor it isn't unusual to have to have the procedure repeated; not common either, but does happy. He said it is normally caused by not drinking enough fluids the prep day or the prior day, even if the prep is done correctly . I am thinking the first time, I probably didn't take in enough fluids before hand. I did follow the directions. The new instructions are much clearer to me. We will see. Thank God I am at an age, where assuming everything turns out normal or mostly so, I will not have another one.
I did have Diverticulitis many moons ago. Those days I had to drink a gallon of some liquid that cleaned me out the day before the test so they could have a clear view.....did work and I stopped eating the items that caused my problem. Ironic in that the place I had my appointment was delayed because of somebody making a mess in the procedure room.
The upper and lower GI cleaning is essential so over the years new technology has come along to help out.
Same procedure is needed before any major Surgery. They don't want any accidents in the OR.

Just curious but what is your diet like that you have a "stool blockage"? or is it your Age?

It might be needed before any major *GI* surgery, but definitely not before other major operations in my experience.
