Long story short: went to doctor and had ears checked. Doctor said that I had a retracted eardrum in left ear. This was about a month ago now. Fast forward to 7 days ago: it was really hurting and I went to Urgent Care where I was diagnosed with a Middle Ear Infection (Otitis Media). The doctor prescribed Azithromycin which I have taken and completed the dosage on 2 days ago now.

The pain still hasn't gone away (it comes and goes) and I have a basically constant headache. Upon some Googling, I came across my symptoms, especially the middle ear infection coupled with the headache as being signs that the infection has gone to the brain and can cause Meningitis/brain abscess. Naturally, I'm completely freaked out after reading that. What do you think I should do? How common is either a brain abscess or Meningitis from a simple Middle Ear Infection? The initial Doctor that diagnosed the retracted eardrum mentioned fluid behind the ear but didn't seem too concerned about it. How does that turn into this? Any advice/words of wisdom would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you google any symptom, it will tell you you're dying from a tumor or cancer.

I would follow up with an ENT or your Internist. Good luck
