Hereditary Angioedema (HAE)
If so how do you control it? I take Xyzal which seems to help but does not stop the attacks.

Has anyone found out what compounds are in some pill forms of medicines to make us allergic to them while not allergic to others?

I can take some pill form of meds, some liquid meds as well as some gelcap type of meds yet others cause my throat to swell shut or hives all over my body. I hope there is someone in the drug maker field who can tell me/us what compound in some pills might be causing the attacks, because as I age, now 68, I find it harder and hard to take what my doctors tell me that I need.

I had angioedema for several years, not hereditary though. Mine was diagnosed idiopathic but later I figured out that sometimes it was delayed pressure induced. For me, sitting on a hard surface, tight clothing, lifting heavy items, etc would cause the swelling hours later. I also had hives with it.

You should look for an HAE online support group for best answers and suggestions. Best of luck!
