We've always been told not to eat raw cookie dough cause the uncooked egg will make us sick but now it looks like it might be the raw flour which is the culprit. What do you think?

I've never been made sick by any cookie dough, nor do I know anyone who has. I think the dangers of raw egg are greatly exaggerated, and if certain batches of flour are contaminated, that seems to be a recent and limited phenomenon.

Frankly, it's not something I am going to spend time stressing about. Virtually any food CAN potentially be contaminated by E.coli and other organisms. What are you going to do, not eat?

my boss told me this a few weeks ago. raw flour is too hard for your body to digest, he said. which seems like a pretty resonable thing to think. considering wheat/flour isnt the same as it used to be and is drenched in pesticides. did you know some companies spray their wheat crops with pesticides right before harvest to help evenly dry them out? the first time theyre rinsed is likely seconds before entering your mouth

Raw flour is "not hard for the body to digest" and this misconception had nothing to do with the recent recommendations regarding "cookie dough"

Flour that was recalled was due to "contamination with E coli" not pesticides...

The E coli contamination was nothing sinister nor man made, had to do with infected livestock defecating near wheat fields..

This whole story has been overblown and frankly there is little risk to playing with dough or eating raw dough
