You DO seem a bit stressed about the alopecia, the cortisone shots, fertility, and your cycle length. I'm just basing that based on your posts!

Stress about ANYTHING (cycles, hair, sex) can affect cycles!

Trust me. This is not bad. I've been stressed over much more during college, yet my periods remained regular. I doubt its that.

I'm really not that stressed over it. More concerned. I'm not losing sleep or anything and most of the day I barely think about it.

Well, you certainly SOUND stressed. If you think all this is based on the cortisone shots....and your hair is not that big a deal then the obvious thing would be to not have any more shots and see what happens. Otherwise all you're doing is worrying and not taking any action at all...the least you can do is share your concerns with whoever is giving you the shots or go to a gyno...simple.

Yes, you do sound stressed. And yes, stress can affect many things in life, especially hormone balances. This is probably nothing. I never had regular periods (and mine were also extremely painful and heavy) but I had absolutely no problem conceiving ever either.

You say you can't afford a doctor and yet you visited a dermatologist for steroids? If you did, at the very least you could call that dermatologist's office and ask about possible consequences from taking those shots that they may have neglected to tell you about. That should cost you nothing. If you are this worried about this potential problem, that is where I would start - not on the internet trying to figure it all out yourself.

Please look into getting an appointment with a GP at least to get an initial checkup and opinion. I don't think you will need a specialist but you would need a referral to one from a GP usually anyway. A visit to a GP even without insurance should be much less than a visit to a specialist so that is good news. If even that is too much, you might also look into Medicaid.

Did you read what I wrote? My last shot was way back in September, almost 5 months ago. I haven't had them since.

AGAIN I AM NOT STRESSED.

I barely ever think about this really.

For the last time I'm not stressed. I know when I'm stressed. I barely ever think about it. In fact this is something I just started thinking about so this whole idea that my periods are out of whack due to stress wouldn't make sense because I just started thinking about it yesterday and my periods have been irregular for more than 3 months. So no the problem isn't stress.

I went to see the dermatologist when I was in school. I graduated in December. In school for students its cheap for students to see doctors at the Health Center.

I have no way of contacting the dermatologist now because I am no longer a student there and cannot talk to her without appointment. Since I am no longer a student it would be much more expensive and cannot afford it

What is a GP? A general practitioner?

How much cheaper are they?

I researched and many women had irregular periods afterwards and some cases even resulted in infertility.

This is so unfair. This woman didn't tell me any side effects would occur and now I may be infertile
Uhmmmmm....you are reading a lot into random stuff you're finding on the internet. You say you're in college? You need to get smart and just get to your doctor. If you have money to treat your hair issue then you have money for this, if it is the priority you say it is.

If all else fails, move up your wedding so you can start your family while you are young(er) - that affects fertility too, you know.

How many times must I say I don't have money? I am in no longer in college. As a student I was able to get cheap cortisone shots that were placed in my health center fee. Those were all included in the tuition and paid with student loans among other things. Now I am graduated and do not have money and must actually pay back student loans and I am no longer able to see the doctor without paying a massive fee.

I am still job hunting and am currently working 10/hr.

I believe what the women are saying because it is exactly what is happening to me and they have no reason to lie. I was researching and these post were from different users, different forums and different years and all the same story, so of course I believe it. Its also listed as a side effect on multiple medical websites.

As for finding a cheap doctor who can help me, that's a different story and that is what I am looking to find.

I know age affects fertility but I am scared the damage is already done which is why I need access to a cheap doctor.

A three day variation from longest to shortest cycle length is not abnormal, does not mean you are premenopausal, and does not suggest you are infertile.

The only way to prove you are fertile - or not - is to try to get pregnant.
