Need to get this story out there to hopefully help people in my situation.

I wore the exact same contact brands for 16 years. They were perfect, I never had any problems with normal day time wear. It was the O2 Optix brand. In late 2016 and early 2017 I started to have a lot of problems with them. My research was inconclusive but I believe they may have changed the type of lubricant they put on them at that time. I couldn't wear them for more then 20 minutes, if I did my eyes were puss at night and hurt for days after, it would take sometimes a couple weeks for them to recover. I hate wearing glasses due to comfort issues and sports/running, so I took tried to solve it. I went to three different optometrists, and an ophthalmologist / eye specialist which I waited months for a appointments before. The all basically told me my eyes looked fine. Some of them would just resort to saying, it's probably dry eye. I tried a steroid for several weeks which didn't do anything. I also tried several different eye drops, and also tried clean my eyes with wipes they gave me. I also tried hot eye compresses. Nothing solved it.

I looked into eye surgery, but I didn't like the associated risks, the recovery, the costs, and decided it wasn't for me.

I then spent several months trying many many different combinations of both different brands of contact lenses and contact solutions. The one that worked for me was the biofinity brand, with opti-free solution.

Wow was it a relief, I've been wearing them now for almost a year, with absolutely no problems. They were a lot thinner than I was used, and even after 16 years of wearing contacts I had trouble taking them out, they were so slippery! I have to pinch them out a bit harder and make sure my hand is dry to get the friction.

Anyway, I just wanted to get this story out there as I didn't see any solutions. For me I was really annoyed everyday wearing glasses, it really changed my life, and sometime gave me headaches. I guess your eyes can change even after 16 years of the same brand, so maybe experimenting can help you to.
