That doesn't suprise me one bit---more money to be made!! The sad part is it affects the elderly who really do often times need them. How pathetic!! Does our government have no heart at all??!!

It is all about the money these days, not helping people. My bosses mother was on over 25 medications and I kept telling him she was being over medicated. Several months ago, he went to the nursing home to see her and she slept the whole time, her lunch was brought in and she continued to sleep, afterawhile, they came took the tray away. He was there for supper also, same thing, she was sleeping, supper came and they took the tray away. This happened 3 days in a row. He was there, all day for 3 days and this is what her days were like. He started questioning the nurse and she wasn't alarmed. He raised a ruckus and demanded the doctor be called.

The doctor reviewed her medication chart and took over half of them away. They have been prescribing medications to her without regard to ANY of the side effects and each side effects calls for another medication... They are killing our elderly with their over prescribing of all these medications.

If you have elderly parents, you better get the name of every drug they are given and research the side effects on the internet before they ever take it.

My Mom takes 8 different medications daily. For heart, parkinsons, fibromyalgia, etc. She is always lethargic, no energy, she can barely stand up 5 mins at a time, has nightmares, etc.
I told her many times it's the meds. All those side effects are all clashing together making her worse. She is from the generation that believes the doctor is god almost and goes to her doctor religiously for help, and they just keep prescribing more and more pills.
And she keeps thinking she won't live much longer the way she feels. She is only 73.
