The drug companies have done a lot of "research" showing this.

How many millions have you talked to who did have side effects?
Lancet Study Highlights "Nocebo" Effect of Statins
" ... after examining data on 26 side effects from 10,000 patients, researchers concluded that patients were more likely to report side effects when they knew they were taking statins. When they had no idea, there was no increase in muscle-related effects."
"This 'nocebo' effect may explain the difference between patient reports in clinical trials, which have found little to no increase in side effects, and those in observational studies, where up to one-fifth of the patients report side effects."
If 20% report side effects when they know they are taking the drug, then 80% do not. About 25 million Americans take statins. That means about 18 million do not have side effects. I do not have to speak to all of them to know that.

A lot of research has been done that does not use industry funding, too. If you are going to criticize a study based on funding you have to show how the source of funding biased the results.

Drug Companies and Research
Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

regardless to how many she has talked to we all know, for many statin drugs are a life savor. OK, we also all know there can be serious side effects and no, not everyone with high cholesterol is going to have a heart attack, but don't put the drug down. This is something everyone needs to decide for themselves, if the risks are worth taking. I was one who was given a much to strong a dose and did have side effects. My dosage was cut in 1/2 and I was much better. Now, I am almost off them altogether. I an happy, but I do not think statins are the answer for many.

But it's OK to put down what others use who don't want the drugs? There are many alternatives that MD's won't even look to. And there is no "for sure" statins have saved lives...there is no "for sure" on just about anything.

Not all the other symptoms you have previously listed?
Article-Should you take statins to prevent a heart attack? What's recommended
Did you have the flu tested/typed by a lab?
