Yet there is something within medical culture that though they profess all patients are to be treated with respect and dignity (which is what the majority try to do) they still mostly look the other way when it comes to the voyeur type stuff on the part of co-workers, especially when the patient is unaware. The oft stated "seen one seen them all" and "you don't have anything I haven't seen" makes sense coming from those for whom this kind of exposure is routine, yet some still take a non-medical prurient interest in patients that may or may not be under their care. It seems like a minority portion of medical staff chose their profession for all the wrong reasons.

Of course men aren't subject to inspection on demand, but the fact remains that hospitals do tolerate a certain amount of unprofessional behavior when the victims are male.

Pointing out Double Standards seems to be the new norm. Forgetting or not knowing why these Double Standards exist in the first place is also the new norm.

This is the third thread you have had on this subject. Why does this seem to be such an obsession for you? Were you molested by a female nurse? Why are so fearful of female nurses and think they are all pervert constantly ogling men? It seriously sounds like you have some issues to work out.

Nowhere in the article did it say the nurses were female as well.

OK, I'll bite. Why does the double standard exist?

My question for you is why do you object to a little light being cast on this topic? This story got national coverage so it is something a whole lot of people thought worthy of shedding a little light on. Is your problem with it being discussed that this topic hits a little close to home for you?

I might add that I have been very clear that most medical staff do behave in a professional manner and treat patients in a respectful and dignified manner. What puzzles me and what I hoped to understand better is why the majority allows the minority to behave as they do.

Having had three stays in a urology ward before and after prostate surgeries I had multiple female nurses checking out and handling my genitals to remove blood clots through my urethra with a suction device connected to my catheter. It didn't bother me that there was no privacy. Whatever can ease the pain is OK. If I had been in a coma and/or died I wouldn't have cared. If I had been that well endowed that nurses from other units came to check me out I would have taken it as a compliment. There's a lot of gallows humor in a hospital. As long as it doen't interfere with the quality of care, I think it's a plus. When a couple of the nurses engaged in some bawdy talk with me it made my day.

You have at least two other threads on this same story. It really sounds like you have an obsession.
