Exactly. Trial and error. For now though, she needs support from her mother who thinks she should be back to normal when she isn't. Find support, hon. And do research yourself. Go to google and do a search of "remedies to help nausea after gb surgery" and see what pops up. Ginger is a stomach soother, but that, too, gives me heartburn. I drink a LOT of green tea..with sugar. I like my sugar! Honey is good for the tummy too.

I'm supposed to see a surgeon next week about removing my gallbladder because of stones. The pipida scan showed the gallbladder IS functioning normally but I really don't want to have anything else removed but I also don't want to have the painful attacks that come every once in a while and that are worse than childbirth.

I have heard people say they had chronic diarrhea after their gallbladder was removed and some have said I have to be careful what I eat which I'm doing anyway to avoid another attack. I'm going to do some research on natural remedies to prevent stones from forming. I'm in the process of moving so my nutritional handbook is already packed.

I don't really have a problem with diarrhea. like I said before I don't think it was one I had because i tried 2 different meds for it and neither helped. I honestly t hi k it was my gallbladder the whole time because now I have not taken my ibs medicine for about 2 1/2 weeks and it's a lot better since surgery. still have it a little bit nothing compared to before. I can handle this that I have.

it's just the nausea that I can't stand. I very rarely get nauseous or have an upset stomach, other than the diarrhea I had, until this happened and it's been a month and a half of constant nausea, waiting for my surgery. it's gotten better since the surgery, but it's still there. I get better in the afternoons for the most part. yesterday when I posted this it was the worst it's been since surgery. I was sick all day and it felt different. I usually just feel sick to my stomach but not to the point of throwing up. yesterday I felt like I was going to throw up all day. today is a little better, it feels like my normal morning nausea.

I guess I'm just trying to rush the healing or whatever because I've been sick for soo long. I know its only been 2 weeks post op, but this past month and a half had just seemed to drag on soo long, I can't imagine going a few more months feeling the same way before I get better. the worst part is when I get nauseous I feel lightheaded sometimes. I spoke to the Dr and he said it could be because of the nausea. thats what I hate.

I should have done more investigating on the problems of not having a gall bladder and insisted he take the stone out and leave it. Alas...that horse already escaped the barn.

When I complained I had diarrhea all the time, he said he never heard of such a thing. LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE. I printed out pages and pages from Google of people having chronic diarrhea after gall bladder surgery removal. Pages. Thousands of links.

So, if you can keep your gall bladder...do so. Otherwise, join the rest of us in poop land.
SAME here! And my surgeon said HE never heard of it either. Lies...

I finally got everything figured out with a gastroenterologist - who tested for everything else first, of course.

He "prescribed" over the counter Immodium. It has been a life-saver! He said some of his patients take up to 6 per day. But you must have everything else checked first, and be under a doctors care - not just do it on your own. (his advice) He changed my life - i can go out and have meals now! (He wanted to try over-the-counter before going to something prescription.)

WTS, the only nausea i've had has been with the "dumping syndrone." Hope the OP gets relief soon.

No. I've never taken meds because of my gallbladder being missing.

Her gallbladder is already removed. She is two weeks post (after) surgery.

Tell me about those damn attacks. Rocking pain I call it. Mine got so bad I only had 2 good days a week. I didn't have insurance at the time so didn't think I had a chance in hell of getting it removed. Finally I said <bleep> it and went to a doctor who scheduled a surgery. Said that I could more than likely get medicaid to help pay. They did eventually.

Anyway, I don't have diarrhea but my stools are consistently soft. They are not what you would call 'normal' but they are not diarrhea.

To the OP: You have to eat. Sometimes you will get nausea just because your body is telling you it is hungry. Avoid ANY and all fatty foods. Anything with butter, cream, fats and grease. Bacon is a major no so is pizza. Try to eat something like oatmeal for breakfast.

My gallbladder was so bad.... it took me a year to get back to normal. I had mine removed back in 1997. They say the worse the gallbladder is, the longer the recovery. I can attest to that.

Ginger is good for nausea, try drinking a ginger tea in the morning. You need to get it under control in the morning so that you can eat.

It took me 6 weeks before I could walk faster than a turtle.

Now I can eat anything I want and nothing bothers me. I do watch my diet though. going through some stuff right now that has nothing to do with my gallbladder LOL.

Good luck, you will get through this. Have your mom read my story. People all heal differently and really does relate to bad it is before getting removed.

so I called my Dr office today to get a refill of zofran and the nurse asked how I was feeling. i told her today is another bad day, and she said she wanted to make an appointment for me to see the dr, just in case anything else is going on. she said I could ask about zofran tomorrow, but they might want to do some imaging or something to make sure something else isnt going on since I have had somewhat of a low grade fever. off and on its been around 99.3-99.4. I hope and pray nothing serious is going on. I just wanna get normal again. I know people here have said their nausea went on for months and that made me feel better, now since I've talked to the nurse I don't feel as good anymore. thanks for all the replies though!

Good point. I complained about nausea during chemo; my oncologist said, "Eat something."

Good grief I had so much nausea from meds while in rehabs for knee and I could not eat and lost 30 lbs...didn't expect that but it was a plus to it all...now keeping it off. Who can eat when nauseated? During my worst periods, yogurt was the only food I could eat. Sure glad that time is in my past.
