Default Natural Help for Menopausal symtoms

I am wondering if anyone out there has any pointers for dealing with menopausal symtoms. just turned 50 a couple weeks ago and now started the hot flashes..however, they are mostly at night. I get really hot for a couple of minutes, take off the covers, then freeze! thanks.

When mine first started I had good results from using Estroven. Walmart has an equate brand that is much cheaper. I still take two a day, the box says one a day, but I take two. Black Cohosh also helps. Good luck, I know the misery you are in!

You're lucky if you're 50 and just started this! I'm 43 and have had this for the last 6 months or so.

I'll be watching this thread to see what everyone suggests

Thanks for making the post.

I cannot swear by this product but i think that it is helping. I'm not menopausal .... i'm in my mid-40's though and have been dealing with hormonal imbalance issues for many years.
I've approached the imbalances in various ways (always natural) and have a daily Chi Gong practice that i've been doing for a few years now specifically to deal with the endocrine system.
I'm from Santa Cruz, CA and for years i would see ads in the local publications for a woman (Theresa Dale) from S.C. that works with womens issues naturally.
I always wanted to go and talk with her but for various reasons (money being one them) did not do so.
When i was visiting family in Idaho this winter i saw an info-mercial on t.v.
Now, understand, i have always just channel surfed by these commercials but this one caught my attention.
It was Theresa Dale and she developed a homeopathic product for women with hormonal imbalance issues. She talks about and addresses the revitalization of hormones and about balancing them and absolutely staying away from hormonal replacement therapy.
I don't like purchasing products in this way and i told you the above story to illustrate that. If i had not been drawn to Theresa Dale for years i wouldn't even have considered this. But, i thought, i'll give it a try. There's a money back guarantee and if you can afford to take the chance, it may be really helpful.
It's really hard for me to be objective about this therapy. But i want to provide the link anyway.
I've been using the product for about 3 months now. Some of my PMS symptoms have been relieved and some have not (specifically the depression but that's a complex issue for me and not solely caused by hormonal imbalance).
And homeopathy is subtle although some of the testimonies (if they're to be believed) state that symptoms have very quickly and very noticeably lessened or abated completely.
Anyway, here's the link and maybe others will benefit from it.
And to moderators, just letting you know i am not part of the company and won't benefit financially by posting this link. I don't know if there are rules on the City Data forum about posting links to products.
Anyway, all the best sgresident. Btw, there's a book by Theresa Dale that comes with your order with all sorts of information that's helpful for these issues.
The first link is to Theresa Dale's web-site and the second link is to the web-site of the product itself.

If you do dairy and meats, make it organic.
I'm 49, get a couple of flashes every once in awhile but since I switched to organic meat and dairy, I don't have a problem.
I thought this was BS at first when someone clued me in on this, but it has helped me.
Also when you're flashing, run your wrists under cold water.

Thanks for making the post.
My problems started when I was 41. Along with the hot flashes, I was irritable and sad most of the time. My mom is in her late 60's and I talked her into getting off premarin. She takes black cohosh but has not switched to the organic meats yet.

One of the forums I go to was talking about perimenopause a few weeks ago. They don't consider it true menopause until one year after your last period. This totally slipped my mind before, maybe it will help someone.

Mayo clinic - check out the signs & symptoms. I've had some of them for years.

Discovery Health - Solutions for Seven Symptoms of Perimenopause - looks like they use natural stuff.

hmm, does anyone else have a problem with their cycles getting shorter, instead of longer, yikes!!!! I hate this, once every 26 days is bad enough, but every 21 days now, for 3 months in a row? I am looking forward to being all done with this, LOL.

I've found relief with eating yams and soy products. My hot flashes are usually during the night and like you, I throw the covers off, then get cold, pull them back on....then off...then on <g>....The yams and soy products seem to help - I don't get the flashes as often when I have those in my diet.

I'm been post menopausal for the past five years I'm only 52. I did suffer from hot flashes for the first year or so but refused to take any meds for it as they seem to cause way more challenges than helped. I have a positive personality and always look through rose colored glasses but the time came when nothing seem positive and my Doctor put me on a low dose of Lexapro and that has helped greatly, my sisters are now on Lexpro too and they also feel like there is alight at the end of the tunnel.

I'm now working myself off the Lexapro, hopefully to be free of them in the next few months, my husband calls them my happy pills, but now that it's been 5 years it's time to see if I can do with out them
