Kool Keith - Sharp pains in the back could possibly be kidney infection or some such issue. Did you go see your PCP first, and did he/she do any blood work? I would start there - and, of course, if horrible pain, get over to the ER.

As for the length of the wait? I don't know what to say -- there are so many factors: # of Dr's in the area, insurance, etc.

Good luck!

Seems long to me. About 3 weeks for me to get a day/time I want.

If you are having symptoms and your doctor put in an order I'll bet you could get in much sooner. The people who end up waiting are those who are just getting screened and have no current issues - you'd get at the beginning of the line, if they really think it is due to your colon.

That seems long to me, I had an issue and my wait was about 3 to 4 weeks.

I'm getting a colonoscopy/endoscopy because I need one every few years (polyps) but don't have pain...it's scheduled for late February so I guess a 4 month wait isn't uncommon but I'm not having problems either.
The doctor specifically asked if I was having any pain or problems that would need immediate attention.

This. Sharp pains in your back could be onset of kidney stones or another problem. Don’t wait 4 months to see a doctor about this.

Did you get a referral from your GP? You usually have to have one of those before you can get a colonoscopy.
What did your GP say about your pain?

Sounds like an insurance company thing.
