I'm an over pronator and have somewhat of a fallen arch and tendonitis in inner ankle area.
Dr scholls inserts are soft and cheap.
I've tried super feet green which are good in the sense they have a rigid bottom but the arch/foot support isnt enough. Birkenstock birkosports cork bottom flattens with weight and wasn't enough to keep arch up/ankle straight so had to send those back.
I ordered Tread labs medium and high arch but sent them back and am waiting for the extra high. I don't think it is going to cut it.
Any suggestions. I need a solid and very stiff insole. A lot of these brands say "rigid" but the plastic collapses under weight of a 6 foot 200 pound male.
Everyone responds differently to the different brands of arch supports. I have done pretty well using New Balance supports. Cost was about 40 bucks. Well padded plastic support.

Extra weight doesn't help that pronation..30 lbs less would make a difference. I get my orthotics on amazon and will look at the new balance ones..last ones on amazon for 25 or so. Then there are the custom made ones for 100's but before those I would take off some lbs.

I went to a very good shoe store and bought orthotics from them. The Dr Sholls were no good, you are right. I threw them away.
The podiatrist wanted to charge me over $300 per foot for custom made orthotics, which I couldn't afford. Now if only I could remember the brand name of the ones I finally purchased! They weren't cheap but they weren't $300 either! If you have a really good shoe store, you might go there and try what they have.
Look for Vionic Shoes they have styles for men and women. They can be found on QVC as well as Amazon. You can also just purchase the innersoles, if you don't want to pay for the shoes.

My friend bought a pair at The Walking Store...but for me, I'm good with the $25 or orthotics. My daughter and her children all went the custom made route.

Already have two pairs of flip flops for wearing inside the house which I bought within the last month.

Makes sense. I can try and get down to 185-190. That might help a bit.

It creeps up on us and we don't realize the load our body carries. I just took off 30 lbs from being in rehabs and the drugs made me lose my appetite and didn't realize the weight was coming off...now to keep it off.
