Quick backstory. My 50yo fiance was having severe back pain, that xray and MRI showed as a herniated disk requiring surgery. The pre-op physical showed on her EKG that she had had a HEART ATTACK within the previous 2 years when she had another surgery. She had no clue that she had the heart attack. So, instead of back surgery last November 15, she had a triple bypass done November 18. Back surgery ended up early December.

So, if you have had this bypass surgery, how long did the pain last? We are 4 months in and she is still in severe pain 24/7. She just went back to work 2 weeks ago, this being week 3. She thought she would be pain free by now. 6 months? A year? Longer? What is YOUR experience?

Thanks

Jim (for Stacey)

She needs a followup visit with the surgeon who did the bypass.

Here is a possibility:

Well, in an awful turn of events, she exhibited symptoms that caused her doctor to tell her to get to the ER asap. She got admitted and she spent the night in the ER. Here I sit with her waiting for a neurologist to come in.

costochondritis is a *****! MrsM, our daughter and grand daughter have all maid multiple ER visits because of this. Pain is awful and mimics heart attacks. BUT, you never know if it's the big one, or not. Only can find out in hospital

Right now, we are dealing with did she have multiple mini strokes, or does she have MS. She goes back to the neurologist in 6 weeks and another brain MRI in 6 months.....

I'm sorry, JimG2, and hope they can get to the bottom of this quickly so she can have some relief.

Jim, I was pretty much pain free after just a few weeks. So sorry to hear that your fiancé is in such terrible pain. On a side note, after 27 years of excruciating lower back pain related to bulging discs, I’m about ready to throw up the white flag and see a Dr.

Thank you Suzy for posting this. My wife suffers from this, although she has never had heart issues before. Desperately searching for possible clues about her condition I stumbled upon an article similar to the one you posted on webmd. It scares me when she has one of those attacks.
