I know probiotics add in friendly bacteria to the gut. ive been taking Nature's Way Reuteri superior primadophilus. along with 7 supplements for diabetes (i notice my glucose readings are lower esp upon awakening)

what kind of changes would one see upon taking a probiotic?

positive changes or could probiotics actually hurt and cause discomfort?

Probiotics have helped me tremendously with gas, upset stomachs, bloat and irregularity. I take the chewable kind 2 or 3 times a day and when I quit last year, I felt miserable. Love those little bugs !

I was having a weird bowel issue a year or so ago where I had orange mucus in my poo(ew) so I started taking the probiotics and it cleared up just fine.

My gastroenterologist recommended that I take a probiotic (I have IBS), so I do. The brand changes depending on what's on sale at the time I need to buy them, although I usually just get the CVS brand. The doctor said it doesn't matter what kind I take, as there have been no scientific studies indicating that one type of probiotic is better than another.

What effect has it had on me? Impossible to say, since I do so many other things to take care of the IBS (diet, antidepressant, fiber supplements, avoiding trigger foods, etc.). All I know is, things are working fine at the moment.
