Now that Canadadrugs.com has been caught doing truly awful things, I don't trust them, nor do I want to give them another dime of our money. Canadian pharmacy fined $34 million for illegal imports | News & Observer

DH takes one cholesterol med that is not available with a generic in the US and, if we bought it through his Part D Medicare plan, would put him in the donut hole in 5 months. We've had zero trouble with it from Canada Drugs, and yes, his cholesterol has come down considerably because of this drug.

So - those of you who use Canada Drugs, are you going elsewhere? What alternatives are there?

I never used CD. I order from NorthDrugStore.com

I've been getting Zetia and Crestor (now that they are generically available, I will order from my US mail order company)

I have connections at The College of Pharmacy and another toxicologist (I am a pharmacist) and had random samples tested and verified over the past 5 years. What I received was the real McCoy

Prices and shipping were excellent

Thanks VERY much for the recommendation.

You said one other thing that might make me really happy. Did you say ZETIA has become available as a generic in the US? That's the culprit that started this whole thing with buying it in Canada to avoid him going into the donut hole.

Is it widely available?

Ezetimibe, the generic of Zetia, has been available in the US since late 2016.

Thanks. Not on the mailorder we had last year for DH's Part D, and not at the local Costco or Walmart. Hopefully, in 2018, they DO have it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Out of curousity, through my drug coverage plan, I checked online selecting a random Costco and Walmart in Raleigh, NC (your location). It indicated that both carry ezetimibe. And at Costco, a 90-day suppy (1 pill/day), was under $10.00.

Are you sure itís not available?

You are correct. It is available. However, the price I'm getting through Medicare Part D is $217 for a 90 day supply. The retail cost will put him into the donut hole, which is what started this whole canadian thing.

Jkgourmet have you tried a normal mail order or a hospital pharmacy? Wakemed has one and I’ve gotten prescriptions there that were cheaper than Costco or Walmart. Call and ask

As a pharmacist, generic Zetia is widely available. Most pharmacies should have it in stock and if not, they can order it. The prices of the two drugs have decreased very nicely and is similarly priced to other statins. For a month of generic Zetia, we charge about $20. If you charge about $10 for a 90 day supply of generic Zetia, you are losing money. I don't know how they do it. They don't win the award to largest decrease from brand to generic. The biggest decrease is Abilify which was about a $1000 a month right before it went generic and is now about $30 a month.

But the charge to the donut hole is still high. It will take another year to come down
