Does anyone know of this type of birth carried out in Ireland in the past , Im appalled by reading this as I knew nothing at all about Symphysiotomy....

I'd never heard of it. What a ghastly medieval torture procedure. I'm surprised any of those women kept their sanity - let alone had more children - after that barbaric experience.

It was said that the catholic church didnt like c sections..being done at that time...its like the middle ages..
