Does anyone have suggestions for a home blood pressure monitor? I'm looking for an auto cuff model; but I saw some wrist ones and wondered if they were accurate?
I used to use wrist monitors but found them to be unreliable. My doctor highly recommended an Omron Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor. I bought the following one from Amazon and have been very pleased with it for the past 5-6 years:
I have an Omron wrist monitor and it has been accurate for me...I take it to doctor's appointments and test with it right after they take my blood pressure, so that I can tell how accurate it is. One of my doctors uses an identical cuff in the office.
OK, I have an auto cuff, and I'll look for it, really. I took it to the doctor's office last year to check it against their equipment. I don't know where I put it. My mother, a nurse, bought it. If I find it, I'll tell you.
If you buy a cuff, take it on the next visit to the doc. My reading was higher than his equipment.

I have a Life Source UA-1010 which automatically inflates the cuff. Runs on 4 "AA" batteries, but any generic voltage adapter will work with it. Easy to use and keeps the last 30 readings in memory.
I have an Omron that runs on AA batteries or with an adapter that it came with. It also has memory, but I don't use that feature. One feature I do like is that it shows when your heart rate is irregular. I didn't know what that meant the first couple times it showed on my reading, but when I ended up in the hospital a few days later, I learned that I was experiencing A-fib. Thankfully, I haven't seen that symbol again since they got me back in sinus rhythm and on meds to control it.

My Dotor referred me to the Omron brand, they have found it is the most accurate with their in office equiment.
I have the *7 series* and I believe CVS currently has them on sale but you will have to double check.
